Frequently Asked Questions

I work for an employer but use my own tools, am I covered?

If you own it, you insure it. It’s that simple! Not all employers will have sufficient cover to keep you protected. Our tool cover will have you sorted within 48 hours if they get damaged, lost or stolen. If your tools are under 10 years old, you’ll get a spanking new replacement and if they’re older, you’ll get a cash amount.

My own car got smashed on my way to the job, am I covered under my employer?

If you use your own vehicle for work and your employer is insured with Cactus, we’ll have your back for work trips….just don’t assume they’ve got insurance. If you’re unsure, give us a call and we’ll sort you out.

My tools got nicked out the back of the van, is this covered in my vehicle insurance?

Sorry mate, you’re outta luck, you’ll need separate tool insurance for that. For just a $1 a day, we can cover you for up to $5k of tools. Cheap as bro!

I know that my employer has insurance, what’s my liability?

Do they? If you’re are a 100% sure your employer has liability cover, you are protected on site for any property damage or bodily injury. Any work you undertake on the side, you’ll need separate cover for.

I have an LBP license, do I still need insurance?

If you’re signing off work, you’re responsible. As well as suspending or losing your licence, you can be personally fined up to $20k. Not worth it bro! We can tailor a special cover for LBPs to include the extra cover you need as someone who takes the responsibility. You should ask your employer to front up for these costs too!
