5 productivity tips for tradies

We all want to make sure we’re being as productive as possible, but when things get really busy or really boring, it’s not easy to keep it up. So how can you ensure that you and your tradie team are productive no matter what’s going on? Try out these five handy tips!

1. Get on top of your planning

To avoid those ups and downs as much as possible, make it a priority to plan out your days. You don’t want a day where the jobs just don’t stop, but you also don’t want to have nothing going on. It’s not always easy to forecast what your day will be like, especially if jobs get booked last minute, but proper planning will help you stay on top of things and will make productivity a breeze.

2. Use the latest tech

Taking time out to get your admin sorted is important as it needs to be done, but to help you be more productive, make sure you’re using all of the latest tech you can. There are so many apps and software systems that are designed to help you get things done easier and faster, leaving you time for the things you actually like doing! Do a bit of research and see what’s out there that might help you.

3. Put safety first

If one of your team is out from an injury, your productivity levels will drop. That’s why it’s so important to regularly remind your team about safety. They might roll their eyes and tell you they already know it all, but as the old saying goes, it’s better to be safe than sorry! Keep an eye on safety gear, and fix anything that might be on its way out.

4. Track your time

This one is a bit time-consuming to deal with initially, but it will give you great oversight as to what kinds of things are bringing your team’s productivity down. By keeping a record of your team’s activities, you’ll be able to see where there might be room for improvement. Remind your staff that it’s not about checking up on them, it’s about seeing how you can make their lives easier.

5. Outsource when you need

To help you and your team increase productivity, outsource certain jobs and tasks where you can. If you find you’re spending too much time on admin, it might be time to hire someone to take care of it for you. Or if your team is struggling to cope with the job load, bring in some extra hands to help with the busy periods. It’s an extra cost, but seeing your productivity go up will be worth it!
