Best NZ travel spots for summer

Spike

Following on from our best NZ roadies list last week, we’ve got some more awesome NZ destinations for you! These ones don’t need to include a roadie, so even if you’ve only got a long weekend off, you’ll be able to check ‘em out.

Queenstown/Wanaka

Bet you saw this one coming, didn’t you? Queenstown is one of the most popular destinations in NZ, and for a good reason. Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie who wants to throw themselves out of a plane, or you just want to experience the deliciousness that is the iconic Fergburger, Queenstown has it all.

Nelson/Tasman

Still in the South, Nelson is another fan favourite. The Nelson/Tasman area has it all, from golden sandy beaches to untouched forests. It’s usually pretty sunny here, so it’s the perfect place to be when the weather is heating up and all you want to do is laze on a stunning beach.

  • White water rafting in Murchison

Northland/Bay of Islands

If you want something a bit more tropical, make sure you head up north to check out the Bay of Islands. You might have seen the Air New Zealand safety video featuring Northland at some point, so you know what it’s all about!

  • Cape Reinga
  • Ninety Mile Beach
  • Waipoua Forest
  • Russell
  • Te Paki sand dunes

The Coromandel
